Maa Sarada Pother Alo Prakalpa (Street Children Project)

From 2009, without any permanent shelter & Govt./ Corporate sponsor, we have taken care of 300 street children from North Kolkata, the majority of whom have never been exposed to any formal or informal school and a few ran out from schools due to their hard-pressed poverty, family condition and lack of awareness for education. Those children used to work as child labour / beggar / thieve / goods lifter. With our love & education we have converted them & now majority of them are attaining schools with remarkable improvement in result.  After every class we provide them a healthy tiffin. We have a schedule & rotation of tiffins, ranges from fruits, egg, milk, bread with jam/butter, dry fruits, sweets, biscuits, fruit juice, cooked food etc. Beside education & tiffin we give them opportunity to develop their skills in form of drawings, dance, handicrafts, mime, gymnastics, songs. We provide them new cloths, twice in a year (Once in the eve of Bengali New Year & another before Eid or Durga Puja). For their recreation we took them in annual excursion. We take of their health for any acute & chronic health disorder. With our guidance & efforts, now our ex-students above 18 years of age works with honesty to earn for their family. Many of them have started shifting from the pavement to make a respectful family life.

Iswarchandra Vidyasagar Educational Help Project (Slum & Village Children Project)
Many students in our service area are previously dropping out of school before high school/graduation, since their parents cannot to afford to provide uniform, text books, school bag and such other items. Because these families’ monthly incomes are not more than Rs 4000.  We motivate their parents through counseling sessions to send their children to school & stop early marriages especially for girl child.
Swapnaloke has been providing educational material consisting of text books, notebooks, geometry box, pencils, pens, school uniforms, clothes, shoes, school bag, lunch box. We also provides free coaching, computer class to these enrolled students. Beside coaching & computer class we have many extra curricular activity like: dance, drama, mime, drawing, yoga, games, library classes for them. After every class we provide them a healthy tiffin (same as street children project). We provides them other facilities as like street children project. We select the candidates by personal visits to their homes to assess the family background. We also take inputs from the school head masters to select the students who are doing well in studies. For any health related problem we provide them treatment, medicine, pathological test (if any), food supplement.
So far we have provided such support to about 200 students studying in classes from 2nd to 12th standard. There is pressing need to help more poor and needy students for continuing their education.
Beside the educational service we trained them for soft skill development & nurtured their leadership quality. As result of that, the senior 10 students of this project formed a sub-committee & the members of this sub-committee are taking the classes of Street Children Project & became volunteer for different events. Near future they wish to be the active member of Swapnaloke & want to serve the deprived & underprivileged masses.
